I have a good chance in the near future to obtain several Frisco Industry Diagrams.

I don't know all the details, but there are several, mostly from the eastern side of the railroad - Eastern Division, St Louis, Salem Branch, Springfield, etc.

If these are of interest to the group let me know. If I get them, I'll be glad to start posting them.

Attached is an example - the diagram for my very favorite place on the SLSF system - Newburg, MO, milepost 119.1 on the Frisco's Eastern Division. The "Valhalla of all Friscodom".

I am amazed there was enough "industry" in and around Newburg that the Frisco would have the need to create an industry diagram!

Have other SLSF industry diagrams been posted? I recall some of the KC area but not much else.

I'd like to start a file of them.

    Industry Schematic Diagram - Newburg

Great stuff and great news Ken!

Is there a date on the Newburg diagram?

    Re: Frisco Industry Diagrams

    Tom,

I'm told the Eastern Division industry charts are from 1980, but I don't believe that to be totally correct.

From what I've seen, I think most of the sheets are earlier, probably a mixture of 1950's/1960's/1970's. I'd guess the Newburg sheet is from the 1960's latest. Notice the turntable is still shown, but the roundhouse is gone.

And, it's hard to read as it has been copied many times. There is a diesel oil unloading spot. Newburg had a VO-1000 early on, 1943. I've seen it on Don's Newburg layout!

I'm surprised there is not a short siding close to Water Street and the tracks for the "corner bar". I would think carloads of Stag, Falstaff and Busch Bavarian coming down from St Louis would have been in order!

    Ken,

    Please post these.

I am particularly interested in anything around Springfield. If the Ozark branch is included, I would be a very happy camper.

    Re: Frisco Industry Diagrams

I have to obtain them before I can post them.

The Springfield Industry Diagram booklet is, I believe, from April, 1978. Wish I could get an older one, but that's not the case. Paul, it does appear to include a couple of pages on the Ozark Branch.

The Eastern Division diagrams are loose with no cover page, and might not be totally complete. It goes from Cuba to Carthage, but nothing east of Cuba. It does include the Salem Branch, but not the lead line. It does look to be older, obviously pre-lead line.

The St Louis booklet is complete and is from April, 1970. It includes both the Eastern and River Division lines in the greater St Louis area.

Unfortunately I do not see one available for the River Division beyond the St. Louis area. That will be for another day and time.

    More to follow.

Cool. I hope you get these so you can post them.

I know Ron Williams has some of this information. He gave me the industry list for the Ozark Branch years ago, but I haven't ever seen the diagrams.

Wow, a bonanza! Thanks for posting these.

I have the 1970 St Louis Terminal industry guide. I'll post it as soon as I get it scanned. It has some big diagrams.

    Wow!

    Thanks for posting these.

The Springfield terminal book includes my beloved Ozark branch. I am quite happy to see that.

The industrial guides homer58w posted (thanks again!) for the Springfield Terminal and for the Eastern Division are the same as the two I mentioned I am working on. So, I'll drop efforts on those.

As mentioned above, I do have the St Louis Terminal Industrial Guide, dated April, 1970. I'll get that scanned and posted as soon as I have a chance.

Saw most of the A&A Sub listed.

Anything on the Arthur Subdivision, yard at Hugo, OK, or the track layout in Paris, TX?

    Thank you very much!

The Springfield info will help me finish designing the second deck of my Clinton Sub layout.

    Couple of questions:

    (1) Are there any schematics for the 1956-60 period? There was even more urban industrial switching in those days before so much reliance on trucking.

    (2) Were there even such things as Frisco industry schematics in that era??

    Thanks,

    Tom

In 2009 SteveM posted as albums some Central Division schematics which, based on the industries shown, apparently dated from the early 1960's.

That's not far removed from your 1956/60 period.

Hopefully someone will fill us in on when these "charts" first came into use on the Frisco.

Two questions I have, and I'm sure someone has answered these for me in the past:

    (1) What are the "numbers" along some industries, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4? Does this indicate spot locations?

    (2) What does the upper-case "T" denote?

Thanks to all for posting these; they're invaluable to anyone who wants to pursue prototype modeling. The schematics for Lenexa are enough to make for a sizeable switching layout.

    Best Regards,

    Chris,

    1. Yes
    2. The "T" denotes a spot that has facilities to handle liquids or gaseous materials.

Since we are asking about the meaning of symbols on the drawings, does anybody know what a "V" or "X" mean?

Also, I'm attaching an image taken from the Kissick diagram. In the image, I believe the symbol by spot 2 indicates
the presence of an under track pit, but what does the symbol alongside the track next to spot 1 indicate?
