Does anyone have a photograph that they could scan and post of the Neodesha, KS brick depot that stood until at least 1973?

It is listed on the Ed Stoll CD mentioned on the loop, but I do not possess a copy.

 

According to the November 1918 Railroad Magazine, page 39, the wood structure caught on fire and burned down September 24, 1918.

This may or may not assist with the time frame of the brick building search?

What is your snail mail address?

 

Sorry, I have this picture from years ago and it is only about 6k.

A rogue program that accessed my pictures back then printed Please Register on all of them.

I would think that I should have a bigger image of it, but I can't find one.

It is also a pretty poor angle, but the only picture that I am aware of.

I used to run NeodyGrads.com and had it posted there.

This is something I put together in 2004 or 2005 when I was building the Frisco KD4 for MSTS.

I built it using the best photographs I could fine.

Just a warning, I have learned much since then when it comes to modeling.

Here are my pictures I took in 1974 of Neodesha, KS Frisco depot.

All of my pictures are Tiff files, very big, average 16 MB for black and white. I converted 12 pictures to JPEG, but they are still over 1 MB apiece. I have up loaded them but I do not know if they will show up.

If not let me know and I will cut a CD and send them to Mike to post.

These are great photos.

This was quite an impressive building.

I am assuming this was at one time the headquarters for the Kansas Division?

Did it also contain a Fred Harvey restaurant?

I'm assuming the depot was torn down around this time, 1974?

I do not think the Frisco ever had a Kansas Division.

Neodesha, KS was in the Northern Division, Wichita Subdivision. You will have to go to Mike Condren's site and look up the floor plan for this depot. I am thinking the upstairs was a dormitory, but I am not sure of that.

Also, the floor plan should tell you when it was torn down. I looked at the floor plans, no Fred Harvey Restaurant, but the second floor had a dispatchers office so you may be right about it being the Kansas Division Headquarters.

 

There was indeed a Kansas Division.

The moniker lasted informally for years after it was consolidated circa late 1915 with the Northern Division.

In Pentrex's video about the A&M, there a segment in which crew members talk about working on the Kansas Division (KD) Line.

 

I've been reading William Bain's 1961 book Frisco Folks and he mentions on page 26 that Neodesha is to become the headquarters of the Kansas Division of the Frisco.

Again on page 36, he mentions the Neodesha Division Shops, 1882-1927. There are some photographs that show a 12 stall wooden roundhouse that was built in 1881. Later in the book, around page 61, he reports that a May 1907 fire destroyed 5 stalls.

In 1884 the station included a dining hall. First depot was built in 1879, wood frame, two story.

The second depot built in 1898, wood frame, and was destroyed by fire on September 24, 1918.

In 1925, the Frisco built an impressive brick station that lasted until at least 1974.
