    Here's a very good Christmas present for someone in frisco.org !!! .....

I have a brass HO Oriental/Samhongsa EMD NW2 Phase V, done as SLSF 261, that I am willing to part with. I have too many switchers!

See the pics below. This NW2 is in excellent shape, it runs fine. It was decorated by another when new, and I am the only owner following that. It has maybe 2-3 hours of operating time on it - essentially still "as new". After I bought it, I discovered that both of the two nylon gears in the drive train had cracked - I guess that's why it was for sale! After some discussion, the previous owner supplied me with Northwest Shortline brass replacement gears, which I installed ..... and it has run fine ever since! It runs equivalent to an Athearn Blue Box (better than) or to the Proto 2000 SW's in running quality.

The decoration as SLSF 261 was well done, which is why I bought it. Again, see the pics. I have added many accents, plus MV lenses in the headlights, a rotary beacon on the cab roof, Kadee couplers front and rear, and gave the drive train a tune up after the gear repair.

Here are the economics ..... I bought it for $138 in 1990. This model is in the "Brown Book" as $150 list as an undec, $140 mint as an undec, and $120 average. This model is way better than average, I considered it as mint.

This is a "Phase V" NW2 - note the front cab windows are still rounded at the top, the hood transition down to the cab is a constant slope (as on the SW7 & SW9) with no flat section typical of earlier NW2 phases, and there are no frame "falsies" at the corner steps. SLSF 260-265 were Phase V NW2's. If you would like it, I'll supply a copy of the X2200S article "All About SW's (NW's)" to the lucky buyer. It explains all these little detail differences.

    Price to frisco.org members: $105

Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail; only actual shipping cost will be charged.

No PayPal on this one. Payment via personal check or money order will be fine from frisco.org members.

If interested, please advise me ASAP via an e-mail to meteor910@mindspring.com, or ..... via a PM on frisco.org to meteor910.

    Thanks! Merry Christmas!

My NW2, SLSF 261, has been sold. Thanks to all who had an interest. It proved to be a popular item!

The NW2's were good switchers. The Frisco liked them and kept them for a long time - all of them made it into BN time. They were heavier than the subsequent SW7's and SW9's, and thus were very good pullers, and the 567 was a fairly maintenance free powerplant.
