Does anyone have a photograph of the Frisco Depot in Alma, AR?

A fellow volunteer at the Arkansas Railroad Museum grew up in Johnson, AR and Van Buren, AR and remembers the depot, but cannot locate a picture of it.

    Can anybody help us out?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi,

I hate to break it too you, but Alma, AR, where I attend school, is not on the Frisco system at all.

Van Buren, AR is. Alma is on the Missouri Pacific line from Kansas to Little Rock. I would love to see pictures if you find them, but this is not the forum for this. I know of two pictures in the Mike Condren collection.

If you find some pictures feel free to email me at the following address.

    Tollivar@aol.com.

    Ship it on the Frisco!

    Right Murphy!

That is what I was thinking also when he asked, but he is older (90+) and was so sure of it that I did not want to disagree.

I will be on the lookout for photographs for you. Know quite a few here in Little Rock that live and breath Missouri Pacific (MP) and one of them just might have a photograph.

    Thanks for your information.

    Shucks!

I thought it would have been funny to by a ticket from Zalma to Alma.

Would they have called that train the Zalma Alma turn?

That just goes to show you how much can be learned from this forum. :D

  8. LOL. That would be a fun trip.

From middle of no were, to middle of no where. You would have to head down the Central Division and then transfer to the Missouri Pacific in Van Buren, AR. I wish Frisco ran to Alma.

Be nice seeing both Arkansas and Missouri (A&M) and Union Pacific (UP) from my school. :)

    Ship it on the Frisco!

    I did too.

What about the AZA turn (Alma Zalma Alma ) or ZAZ turn (Zalma Alma Zalma)? :D

That would of course depend on where it originated.

If that had happened, they may have made a different advertise slogan for the freight cars:

Ship It From A to Z on the Frisco!

    Or consider the following.

    From A to Z
    Ship it on
    the Frisco!

The "From A to Z" would replace the "Southeast ... Southwest"

    :)

  13. Have any of you guys been to Alma, AR?

Just north of town is a business A-Z. A-Z is a huge junk/tool/grocery store. It is the main thing in Alma.

    Just thought it was funny.
