    Hello Forum:

Steve Goen wanted me to pass this on:

"I have talked Atlas into adding a N scale GP-7 in Frisco black & yellow to their list of future models. If everyone would like to see a matching QA&P unit offered as a limited run, I would advise everyone to let Atlas know that this would be in demand."

I'd be happy to just see a B/Y GP7 in FRISCO, much less QA&P (altho that would be a neat model to have).

Wonder which variation of the B/Y scheme they'll run?

I have an Atlas GP7 in B/Y (of course I had to paint it myself, and still have some work left to do on it).

I'd like to see a factory paint of a B/Y Atlas GP7 though. Atlas did an excellent job with the B/Y VO-1000. The sad part is, I'd probably have to retire my custom #500 once I got the factory versions. I'll admit that I'm not terribly pleased with Oddball's yellow color on the decal's, too pale compared to the VO. Has anyone else had a problem with that? Maybe I just got a bad batch off the printer...

it appears the yellow stripping faded rather quickly so maybe thats why the Oddball decals are lighter

    HWB -

If you are refering to the picture that I posted in my previous post, I think what you are noticing is a trick of the lighting, the flash on my camera really 'washed-out' the color at the front of the engine. However, in normal light, the yellow of the railing is matched very close to the yellow used on my Atlas VO. The decals however are noticably lighter in color.

thats a problem I've enocountered before. Matching the yellow is difficult. I used Microscale yellow stripping in the past and it is very yellow but not as bright as their lettering decals. Here again is where strategic weathering absorbs the flaws:cool:

On my HO Geeps, I used Herald King decals for the stripes, and called it good. Looked good to me, anyway, and matched the lettering closely in color.

I have a saved photo of what I beleive are yellow stripes and chevrons made by Oddball decals. Anyone know the number? I have some projects that need striping to be finished and these look just the ticket.

If your saved photo is the same as the one in this thread, http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?t=3139&highlight=atn , then you have a photo of the ODDBALL set

I found an Atlas GP7 that I had partially stripped the paint from, so while I'm waiting for Atlas to do a factory-painted job, I'll work up one myself. Need to get the decals from Oddballs as well as a pair of M-T couplers.

And yes, it'll be in black & yellow.:D

Apparently Steve didn't convince 'em too strongly- according to Paul Graf, he said there were no plans for an N scale GP7 in the B/Y. Hopefully, he could not remember the conversation with Steve.

I did, however, recommend the B&Y Frisco Geep, stating that I thought they did a nice job on the VO1000 and RS1, plus got the colors right on the GP15s and GP38AC/-2s.

So we'll see............and I don't doubt for a second Steve talked to Atlas about the B/Y GP7s. Let's hope this happens in 2010.

I let Steve know that it sounded like his GP7 request had been forgotten or fallen on deaf ears.

He fired off an e-mail to Atlas that day...

Hope they do them for the N scalers, but I would really appreciate a run in HO!

    We all do!

Unfortunately the metal frame die is worn out.

They are trying to decide what to do about it.

I'm not trying to start a p****** contest with Atlas or anything, as I believe Steve is pushing for a Frisco GP7 (as am I). But it is possible that either the request was forgotten or not given a green light. Which is a shame, given the fact that Frisco had over 120 GP7s (128? not sure) delivered (or, as Louis Marre tagged them, GP7Ls in deference to their braking system).

I've painted & decaled all four if my HO scale Frisco GP7s, but would love to see one in N scale. As I said before, if they can do such a good job on the VO1000 and RS1, surely the GP7 is a piece of cake.

Are these the N scale models (Announced in April 2010)? Reason why I ask is I'm supposed to have a pair of these pre-ordered and I haven't heard from my dealer?? But it HAS been TEN MONTHS...
