HI, my name is ted johnson, I was a member of the old FMIG back in 1976 when Doug Hughs and Charlie Dischinger were the editors. I still have a lot of those newsletters.
*I became interested in the Frisco when I lived in Springfield MO in the late forties, early fifties. Spent much time roaming around the old down town passenger depot, diesel shops and yards. Got to know a lot of the workers and received many cab rides around the yard.
*I don't do a lot of modeling now, but i still have a lot of frisco stuff I did a long time back.
*Athearn is coming out with 3 new Frisco SD40-2s in Sept. , i ordered 2 of them , I hope they get the handrails painted right.
*And last I was a fireman and later engineer on Frisco 1630 at the Illinois Railway museum in Union IL of which I am a member.

    Ted,

I believe the old FMIG had some photos of your b&y F units on the Batavia club layout and they were great. Hope to see more photos of your equipment.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

Howdy Ted and welcome to FRISCo_Org.

I remember your name from back in the day...back when I was young and had hair! We welcome your participation and look forward to hearing from you.

I have a personal passion for the decapods, since I am a Western Division fan, and that is about all that ran out there. The decs were easy on rails and suited to the high speed of 16 mph averaged on the freight runs from Enid to Vernon. I envy your time at the museum.

    Have fun,
    mike

    Hi Ted,

I met you during my visit to the Batavia club in the early 1980s. It was great to see your Frisco models in a hostle sea of BN and CB&Q. Do you have any photos of your equipment to post?

Hi John, I do remember a few names from the old FMIG group, the old batavia layout has been gone since about 91 or so, the new owner of the building wouldn't renew the lease. I still have all the models I did back then plus a couple new ones.
Im waiting for athearns new SD40-2s

The only new frisco engines I've done the last couple of years is detail the older athearn sd40-2 # 956 and built a sd45 using a railpower shell and put a cannon cab on it. The older I get the slower I get anything done.
Those old f7s I did have been remotored with new Proto Power motors and have new detail west horns, but have not installed them yet.
    Ted
