    First Name:
    Scott
    Last Name:
    Wilkes
    Era:
post-war, steam, diesel electric, etc. Prefer that over the newer, harder to maintain stuff
    Area of Interest:
O trains and trains in general (since 3), photography, RC planes (soon to be jets) and woodworking.
    Layout Description and Progress:
Dual track shelf layout. Basic, but had to build it within the space of an existing 25' x 18' media room. Check out my FB page (scottwilkes0612) to see the media room decorated with my own work and my shelf layout.
    Special Interests:
Other than what is already listed, travelling the country with my wife in our RV and our 3 dogs.
Why are you joining this site?:
To learn more about model railroading, especially "O" scale
Not much else to say about me. Recently retired (December 2024) and am enjoying it. Wife has yet to retire, but works part time with the hard of hearing as a speech language pathologist. We travel when we can in our 39' fifth wheel travel trailer and our three female yellow labs (ages 10, 5 and 3). I have lived in Texas since 1976, while my wife was born and raised in Dallas. We both went to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX (but did not meet there). We meet at a church function 25 years ago and have been married, with no children of our own for the last 23 years. That pretty much sums it up. I have a saying on the wall as you enter my media room and try to live my days by it. It's a quote from Jack London (author of "White Fang" and "To Build a Fire") and it goes like this:

"The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time."
