Silver Place dome car had a food bar under the dome. The living room had a piano. The other end had bunk rooms and coach seats. The insides were done up with turquoise and pink colors. It is still in excursion services. I think around northern Michigan and southern Canada.

The Silver Palace left excursion service again in ~ 2004 and it went back into private ownership again. In 1985, the owner was Merl Haggard the county music star. It was not really fit for excursion service since it was a long time not a coach car.

      Somehow railfans find railfans.
      Railroads are just not things.
      They were alive with employees
      and other people

Robin and I had 4 excursions in The Silver Palace

so it is dear to our hearts. The first 3 had lots of people .
The last time we were alone with the President of the railroad
and on the return route we just sat there in the Silver Palace with him and talked about the many different Ozark railroads
(in MO & AR) that starting in about 1905.
His family, the Adams, were railroad families for over 80 years.
His father Walter M Adams wrote a railroading book about being a railroad employee in Arkansas and Missouri.

He knew one of my Monsanto engineering directors that wrote a book about the ghost Missouri and North Arkansas (M&NA) and also studied the customers the railways served. As a boy, he would spend his summers with his grandparents in NW Arkansas.
To get there he traveled on the M&NA .
Jim would bring me railroading projects; ...example: Could a spur branch had been possible to get to the mines at Rush Arkansas in the remote hills around the Buffalo River.
We would wade through old topo maps looking for a theoretical route that may of have been possible;....making many calculations. He also wrote several other railroad books and a contributed to many others.

His name was Dr. James R. Fair. He lived to be in his upper 90's.
