Personally, this unit is my favorite for a few reasons. The unit began it's days as GN #5103. On M-day, it was assigned to number #77 as class SW1 for the Burlington Northern. She was then transferred to Walla Walla Valley Railway with the same number. Then, the unit was sold to Precision National Co. still as number #77. One last purchase and it ended up on the FRISCO and was assigned to number #10, still class SW1. When the Burlington Northern acquired the FRISCO, the unit was then assigned to #70. Stenciled Mobile, Ala. on the frame, it worked on Blakeley Island were weight restrictions were in place because of the car-float. The unit became BNSF #3300 and promptly after, was sold to U.S. Borax Co. As #7171 in the original GN paint. Unfortunately for the rails and car-float, these were torn up after the main factory no longer required rail service.

My father told me this story (at least up to the acquisition of this SW1 by the Frisco) and knew that the paint was drying when he took me to see it before it left for Blakeley Island. This photo was taken in Springfield just outside the east end of the Diesel Shop.
