Looks to me that improvements were made in the reflective Scotch tape belt line "dashes" as the years went by. Late 50's, there several very bad grade crossing accidents where idiots "submarined" locomotives and hit the fuel tanks. Side marking scheme came at the request of the FRISCO safety department. For some reason they disappeared when the red paint arrived? DOT has now forced semi truck trailers to have the reflective belts for the same reasons.
