I just shot them a suggestion to do them in N-scale… we’ll see.

The U-25B is pretty much the only GE model I like. Too late of a time frame for what I like, but it still very cool that they are doing a Frisco High-nose version.

Maybe we can talk them into a B/Y version someday.

I never thought I would see the day that we would get a high quality plastic U25B high hood. Hopefully we will get the other versions the Frisco had down the road.

If you haven’t looked at a Rapido locomotive yet, I have got to say they are top notch. I would put them at the top with the rest of the big brands. I have two Santa Fe B36-7's that are spectacular units. Smooth, quiet runners like a good Atlas unit. The LED lighting is very nice. The best feature is one that I hope is included on the Frisco units: the beacon has 4 micro leds in it so it looks and functions just like the real thing.

    Darn. No B&Y.

Besides being later than my chosen modeling era, IMHO, the HH U25B's didn't wear the O&W well. Stripping the models of today (glued on details/glued in windows/etc) is a royal PITA.

Hopefully Rapido will eventually offer their U25's in Frisco B&Y. I can but hope.

  7. Hopefully Andre. When I sent stuff I included the original black and yellow, the 807 with large print black and yellow, orange and white with nose stripes and no nose stripes and the patched out Conrail version of the orange and white too. Fingers crossed they add more choices.

    Steve:

    Fingers crossed!

By the way, thanks to you and whomever else was involved for aiding the process w/Rapido.

You all are welcome; Gregory Summers, Steve Hurt, my friend Stephen Priest, and I had something to do with that. Black and Yellow are part of the overall plan.

    Also note there are some significant numbers presented;

SLSF #802 was the first locomotive ever painted (repainted) orange/white released from Springfield 2/14/65, before anything came from GE/EMD in the new paint.

SLSF #804 was the first U25B built (as a GE Demonstrator).

SLSF #803 has the Scotch Lite “V” stripes on the nose, and will be on the model.

    Indeed, thanks Keith!

The particular number selections for the models was quite insightful. Well done, team.

Gotta' have at least one Moby Dick on the KC&G's Ozark Sub on a run-through of some sort.

Then there's that Frisco Racehorse that Rapido hinted about.

Wow... with the upcoming releases, Frisco nirvana will be within reach for this deprived Frisco fan.

  11. Thanks Keith. I have hounded every manufacture with my request for as long as they have had email addresses and at every show I attend. It took a long time but at last here they are. I sure hope they sell.

Never listen to online trolls that say model companies don’t listen is my advice to anyone. Don’t complain, help them. Present a case for why it would sell. That’s what they care about. Offer to help research or present what you know and how you can help. They listen, maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow but eventually. If locomotive model were like a microbrew it would be easy.
Other toy companies do the same thing. Greelight Diecast is releasing a toy of my monster truck in October. Same thing with them, tell them what you know. I’m sure all my Frisco friends will be buying them up too. Ha

It’s a good time to be a Frisco modeler. Even if I will have to sell plasma to afford it. Lol

Rapido is to be commended for making a high hood U25B. Wasn't the Frisco and the UP the only purchasers of such beasts?

IMHO they are really rolling the dice on these. (It's a pretty narrow market.) I do hope those of you that dig O&W will step up to the table and purchase.

If the B&Y's come to market, I will be in for at least couple high hoods if at all possible, and will also consider a pair of the low nose U25B's if offered in B&Y.

  13. You are correct Andre. Other than when they served on the Conrail late in life. The UP high hoods were traded off pretty early. But rebuilt as slugs and retained the distinctive tanks and headlights but lost the euro look steps.
For sure a slim market. But even the hi hood units showed up on the UP SF Seaboard etc... if modelers use their heads they can fit these on a lot of layouts prototypically. I hope they sell for a lot of reasons. I can assure anyone, nobody ever loved those units more than me. I have wanted to see these offered since I was a little kid.
Don’t forget to go along with Keith’s list that 831 was the last U25b GE produced. A low nosed unit but an important one.
I am sure this choice from Rapido will get lots of tears from other modelers but just this once the Frisco fans made out well.

Thanks to all that made this happen! The O/W paint scheme maybe less desirable to some, but nonetheless,
I put in for my pre-order with my pusher. If the B/Y scheme becomes available, I will do the same.

I want to see that too. If they build them, I will buy every number they make.

Well, I think I've made a "Definite Maybe" decision: IF they release a B&Y high hood as well as a flat low nose w/1 piece window, I'll try to swing one of each.

    Chugga-chugga-chugga....

    :D

There is great historical significance to this prototype and model. Especially for GE, especially for Frisco, and especially for railroading. That Rapido took on a project that seems to have a limited appeal is amazing and is to be lauded. So given that this was a FIRST for all involved and that that is the basic appeal off this model (plus it looks like the Hulk), how can this model possibly NOT be offered in B&Y? So, if you please, Rapido, I'll take 3 road numbers in B&Y, maybe all four if they are not Athearn yellow. :)
