  1. What is Gesso and what is it made for? Or you use it for?

  2. Maybe it is a beer?

It's used to seal wood before painting and has been around for decades in the arts & crafts world. Cynthia has used it since 1982. You can find Gesso at any arts and crafts store, mine came from Hobby Lobby for $16.99 plus tax.

    Edit: 32 fl oz.

Gesso is primarily used to prime stretched canvas and provide a base for fine art acrylic or oil painting.

I found some shelf brackets to replace legs on benchwork at Lowe's. They are 12 inches on one side and 10 the other.

Thinking 9 would be enough, three per wall.

I couldn't find the shelf bracket that I saw before but here's the one found online.

It's 10x8 inches and will work just fine, when I go to Lowe's around 8:00pm will look for the 12x10 brackets.

  8. Joe,
Can I talk you into modeling the swing span?
Even if it does not turn.

It would take too much work to change the bridge at this point in time.

I've been blending two blue colors with a sponge barely dipped in paint more or less dry brushing. Have completed three panels with six more to do.

  11. ;) Can I talk you into modeling a swing span?
Even if it does not have to be anywhere near the lift bridge?
    It could be at the end somewhere in :eek: make-believe-county;
an entire freelance territory of railway crazy dreams .

There's a Rule G, which means you were caught crocked on company property.

Rule 1 trumps all other rules.

Yesterday afternoon finished painting the sky on background and installed them on layout. Now they are ready for Cynthia to paint clouds, trees, buildings and other details. Still need to fit the corners a bit and will do that after Cynthia gets them painted.

This morning I cut and painted a background panel for modules 01 and 12. After Cynthia does her thing I'm going to apply caulking to the seams of background and paint to blend.

Today I did a project that I've been putting off for the last week, clean the work table and move it out of way. I can now modify the benchwork for module 08 where a tall two foot long trestle will go. Have to cut the front L Girder two places in the middle and drop it down a few inches then add support pieces.

    Before. What a MESS.

    After. Much BETTER

Walla. Now I can hang overhead valence.

Cynthia and I hung up the overhead valence for module 08 and cut background to complete all of the walls this morning. The only other background to install is for modules 09 and 10 where the layout goes across the room. It's going down the middle of modules, on one side will be the scenic layout and other side a staging yard with some basic scenery.

This afternoon I will use Gesso to seal the background I cut and try to paint the sky and installed by this evening. Will post photos later when I'm finished.

We got the overhead valence put up but didn't get to the Gesso. That's a project for morning. This completes the valence for the layout.
