I just noticed that my description of #4615 describes it as a single sheathed USRA boxcar. That is a mistake - it is a USRA double sheathed boxcar. The Frisco did not have any USRA single sheathed boxcars, but rostered more USRA double sheathed boxcars than any other railroad.
Too much evening scotch I guess! If this is a problem let me know.

And, here is a very nice item. An Intermountain HO boxcar, IRC # 48503-06, new in the original box. This is a Milwaukee Road 40-ft boxcar that was built with the unusual Milwaukee horizontal panels they often used in their home-built rolling stock. This made these cars unique. Go to the Intermountain Railway Co web page and look up item 48503 in their web page for a good pic of this item. The car is dark boxcar red in color (a reddish brown) with crisp white lettering and numbers, including the famous "Route of the Hiawathas" logo. The car has Kadee compatible couplers, and metal wheel sets. The prototype was built 9/45. It is equipped with the original 7-panel doors. The road number is MILW 23578.

This specific car is now out of stock, though other numbers are still available. List price, indicative of IRC's quality, was $42.95, but they are usually always available at prices around $32-$35. Price here is $27 plus actual shipping. Payment via PayPal using the "friends & family" option. I won't be able to ship after Monday, Sept 9. until Sept 30.

I always thought this style of car that the Milwaukee Road built was really neat and provided some needed diversity in the look of a line of boxcars. Roundhouse had this car available way back, the same look but nowhere near the detail and quality of this one. I remember it was one of the first HO kits I bought. (Sold eBay)

Now that we have settled back down after our cruise, I'm looking at my items for sale again. I've noticed that the Athearn HO Genesis FP7A is listed on eBay as low as $220. I'll cut the price on mine and will offer it for $205.00. Following is the text of the original listing from several weeks ago:

Here's another item - the Accurail Frisco stock car. This is not totally prototypical in terms of the details, but it is a very good looking car and would look good on the layout as long as you are not a rivet counter. This is Accurail #4703, done as SLSF 47798, 4ft, boxcar red, with the "Frisco Lines" coonskin in black and white. The car has metal Kadee rib back wheel sets, Kadee couplers and Cal-Scale brake hoses. The trucks are Accurail's nice Bettendorf trucks. Original box included. See the pics - sorry about my crummy photography!

Here are three additional items for sale. Three freight cars with unique features. I'll post them one at a time.

First, an Accurail kit I decorated from the kit. This car is a 40ft six panel wood boxcar, class XM, but is decorated in a scheme the Frisco was evaluating. I'm not sure of all the history of this scheme, but Oddballs decals produced the decal set I applied to the car. If I recall. my discussion with Tom Stolte some time ago, he produced this decal set from a pic of the actual car. I've never seen a pic of the car, but it makes some sense that the Frisco was thinking about what ultimately evolved into the "Southeast Southwest Ship it" slogan to be applied to their box cars. So be it, in any event it will attract attention on your layout. The car is marked with a 1928 build date and what looks like a 1954 shop date. I don't know the actual date of the new lettering scheme. Extras are Kadee metal wheel sets, Kadee couplers, Cal-Scale brake hoses, and a Kadee brake wheel. Original box and Accurail instruction sheets are included. See pics. I'm showing both sides of the car.

Second, another Accurail car. This is a Frisco 2-bay, panel side hopper car, black color, white lettering, white Frisco Lines logo. The side panels were added to the car to increase the cubic feet of lading space for this series of hoppers. The car was built in 1923, and rebuilt in 1942 (probably when the side panels were added). Extras include Kadee metal wheels, Kadee couplers, Cal Scale brake hoses. No brake wheel - the car used a lever. Original box and Accurail instruction sheet included. The Frisco had a bunch of these in several series.

Third, a really neat boxcar that will stand out on a layout. This is a Bowser car, a PRR double door 40ft box in the "Circle Keystone" scheme, white lettering on boxcar red. But, look at the roof - a "Turtle Roof" that provided more head room the length of the car except of the ends where the side roof walks are mounted. This is a PRR class X31F series car. Makes for a very distinct car riding down the rails. PRR tried all sorts of ideas on their very many series of box cars. This Bowser kit includes extras - Kadee metal wheel sets, Kadee couplers and Cal-Scale brake hoses. No Kadee brake wheel here - the Bowser wheel is just as good. The car was built in 1936. Here's something for you fans of the MoPac as well as of the Frisco. This is a mint condition book (I have read it, but it has mainly been on the bookshelf). The book is now out of print. Title is Missouri Pacific Passenger Trains - The Postwar Years, authored by Patrick C. Dorin. It explores the breadth of MoP passenger trains that operated after WW-2, from the Eagle fleet clear to the St Louis suburban operations. The book is largely composed of b/w pictures of the trains and their cars, with many car diagrams, and one chapter of color pictures. 128 pages, over 200 b/w and color photos, 30 car diagrams, plus roster summaries. Size is 8.5" x 11". Excellent text provided by the author. ISBN 1-883089-71-9. Published in 2003. A bit of steam is included but mainly it is diesel power on the trains given the time frame the book addresses. See the pics of both the front and back covers.
As I noted, the book is out of print. Copies can be obtained from five of Amazon's book seller stores - used copies for $27 - $35, or new/like new copies for $40 - $55, plus shipping. I'll sell this mint copy for $24, plus shipping via USPS Media Mail or USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate, your call.
