So, I made a command decision today, after finishing another bench, to reduce the size of the planned layout, it was huge, bigger than anticipated. It will still be very big (to me anyway). This means two, possibly three more benches and a "lift out" section will complete the benches. I can always add on later. One bench and the "lift out" for the perimeter and one or possibly two for the Arkansas and Ozarks section in the middle. Paw paw is getting excited...

Lol. All I did was say "hi". We chatted briefly about the podcast and our mutual interests. We resumed shopping, then later, he came back and asked me to "friend him" on facebook. So I did. We chatted some more over messenger, he's a nice, down to earth gentleman.
With this bench I should've been able to say the perimeter benches are complete, but I have to redo one that isn't squared up enough. No biggie. Just time needed to redo it. After that, it'll be time to add adjustable feet, aligning and joining the benches. The gap in the perimeter will have a lift out section.
Project had some slow orders while I handled some adult responsibilities, like working the fall carnival at church, it was great to see the smiles on the kids' faces, worked on the wife's car, and had to be available for oversight while a crew cleaned our ductwork, but I managed to get the adjustable feet installed on all the benches. There will be some additional slow orders this weekend as I need to finish painting the master bathroom, we had the shower and tub replaced, before the grandchildren come up for Thanksgiving.
Craig - Sounds like you have a full plate indeed! I have some of the same problems given my seat on our condo board. Didn't fully know what I was getting into on that one! We have 178 units, and they all want something! K

That is a neat issue, showing the half and half cabooses. I had one of those assigned to me when I was working the bulldozer on the Ft. Scott Sub. Kinda neat showing the 99? Series, generally reserved for MOW service. Bad thing was if the crews seen the 99, then all the sudden they was on short time. "Well, we're short on time, maybe tomorrow we'll get it." Heard it hundreds of times. You almost had to take out a rail to get them to stop.
The All Aboard is dated Winter 95-96 and has an article on page 9 with a description of "Master Model Railroader" requirements. It would be interesting to see the difference between then and now. Joe
Thanks All. Neat article. Turns out, schedules change, kids couldn't come up for Thanksgiving so we went to them spending a few days in Knoxville TN (son's home), then a few more in Cincinnati OH (daughter's home). Upon arriving home, I had to go to a previously scheduled MRI for an abnormality regarding the optic nerve in my left eye, thinning of the nerve tissue coupled with some loss of the field of vision. Not that I could tell. Haven't seen the results yet, but should hear something next week. The concern is something may be pressing on the nerve causing the symptoms. There is some family history of masses growing around the pituitary gland. This has not been confirmed yet, so no need to get excited, or as they say, "don't go borrowing trouble". If there is anything, we should be catching it early. The nature of my career has provided annual physicals for many years. Plan to get back on the project soon. Highball!
Craig, I'm glad to hear that you are on top of your medical issue!!! When I was working, we had to have hearing and eye testing once a year. Riveting is 110 decibels for one riveting gun, add 250 Structure Mechanics and you have a really noisy workplace. I always wore ear plugs and ear muffs. The eye testing was done to qualify for overhead crane operator. Joe
Ok, an overdue update, regarding the layout and my optic nerve issue. An MRI was performed and I have a large pituitary adenoma (tumor) 99% likelihood that it is NON cancerous, praise the Lord, that has to come out, was hoping it could be treated in place. The removal surgery is scheduled for Jan 25th. The neurologist has performed "hundreds" of these procedures and has never had a major issue. I will be down for awhile, but shouldn't be too long. Prognosis is good. I am in good spirits. When the optometrist says they recommend you see an eye specialist because "things just don't look right", its a good idea to act on it. I had no discernable symptoms. Sorry if that was TMI.
