Hello, I am doing some research on an Engine 1352 and I am trying to determine if the one in question is the same as Frisco Engine 1352. This photo is my Great, Great Grandfather atop an Engine 1352 https://imgur.com/a/7Olhn Do you think that is the same as this engine? https://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/friscoline/images/photos/p01389.jpg The engines have some remarkable similarities though my photo has no Frisco branding. I also cannot figure out why Frisco Engine 1532 would be in Lewiston, Idaho where this photo was taken. I was very excited to see the sticky thread about engine 1352 when I came across this website, I figure you all are the experts to help. Thank you. -Jim
I could not make out the letters before 1352 on the cab. NP as in Northern Pacific? Certainly would make a lot more sense in Idaho. Thank you.
Thank you all for the help. I think I found the engine I was looking for, appears to have been scrapped in the 40's. http://morphotoarchive.org/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN00344 http://morphotoarchive.org/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN04834
Oh man, I wonder how much time I spent looking for the wrong train? Oh well. I think I have it this time. Another Picture: http://www.morphotoarchive.org/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN00303 And a few details: http://www.nprha.org/Lists/NP Locomotive Cards/DispForm.aspx?ID=737 Unfortunately it appears to have been retired in '52 and then scrapped at some point in Tacoma. Thanks again for all of the help.
Well, I got interested. The Minnesota Transportation Museum has an old NP ten wheeler that they used to run (sound familiar?), #328. It was a tiny branch line loco. I looked 1352 up at steamlocomotive.com, and it was a Baldwin built model, class S-4, a bit bigger: http://steamlocomotive.com/locobase.php?country=USA&wheel=4-6-0&railroad=np
Great link, it looks like #1354 is the same S-4 class and located in a town I drive through every now and again, I will have to check it out next time I am there. Thank you!
1354 looks like a simplified S-4--it was rebuilt with new cylinders ca. 1918. The cylinders are different from your original picture. It's much the same, though.
