  2. I’m in Ken if everyone that needed one has it. I don’t care if it is plastic or brass. I’d do two or three. Whatever. Ha

Gimme a price and I’ll send it. Thanks

    Steve -
I have four brass and two plastic brackets left. These are the Kemtron/Precision Scale 31607 (brass, was Kemtron 561) and 31608 (plastic). Brass cost is $3.75, plastic cost is $2.75. I'll pay the shipping on singles - so far I've not had any trouble with damage as they are bubble wrapped, but in a normal envelope. For multiple items I'd prefer a bubble envelope - cost for that is $3.50 including postage. I'll split that with the buyer.
These are very nice castings, been around for a while, Walthers shows the brass as out of stock (at $5.50 each), don't know about the plastic ones. The brass ones I have left are Kemtron's I got years ago, from Tom's Trains no less (anybody from StL remember Tom and his shop?)

  4. Ill do 3 brass then Ken. $14.75 correct? Thanks as always

    Steve -
No, I said I would pay half of the bubble pack envelope shipping - $3 postage plus $0.50 for the envelope. So, 3 x $3.75 = $11.25, plus $1.75 (half of $3.50) equals $13.00 even. As always, PayPal via "friends & family" , so no service charge, is preferred; pay to meteor910@mindspring.com.
    Thanks!
Any other takers? One brass ($3.75) and two plastic ($2.75) left. I'll pay shipping on singles, for doubles, or triples, we'll need a bubble envelope, which cost$3.50 to ship. I'll pay half of that, buyer pays half.
The plastic is very handy for the nose plate on SLSF VO's, DS's, etc. Just cut the headlight bracket off and you have a nifty Frisco coonskin number plate.
    Ken

ps - FYI, my SLSF 213 VO-1000 has the plastic plate on the nose. See pics of it in my frisco.org album.

  6. Ill get it sent Ken. Thanks
My 236 is also a plastic version of these. I wish I had better luck putting the numbers on it. Those are really tiny!

    Matt -
Thanks! The one brass bracket/numberplate is $3.75; the two plastic bracket plates are $2.75 each, total of $9.25. Shipping is $3.00 USPS postage plus $0.50 for a bubble wrap envelope, total of $3.50. But, I pay half the shipping cost, $1.75, so the total cost to you is $11.00. Payment preferred by PayPal, "friends & family" so there is no service charge, paid to meteor910@mindspring.com

But, hold off sending payment for a bit. I'll go through my inventory of detail parts, which is large, and give you a list of detail parts I have ideal for Frisco b/y F-units. Assuming you want any of those (I'll give them to you at my cost, less than today's cost), I can include them in your headlight bracket/number plate purchase for no or minimal added shipping cost in the bubble wrap envelope. Give me until tomorrow night to get that list to you - this is a busy week - building hurricane readiness committee meeting tomorrow (we have a critique review on how we did with Irma (*)), and the Pelican Bay men's club is also meeting tomorrow.
    Ken

(*) I give our building an "A". Our landscaping got trashed, along with most trees in Naples, but the building suffered no significant structural damage, minimal leaking even though Irma's eyewall passed over us with 124MPH winds. (We took in about a half-bucket of water). We had no storm surge at the garage level (ground level). We got lucky on the storm surge issue! 10-15 feet predicted, we got about 2 feet. Garage is ten feet above high tide sea level, so we saw no water. 10-15 feet would have gotten the garage wet, messed up some cars no doubt. All we had was leaves, twigs and a few critters. Our building meets the current building codes, and they worked, kept everybody out of harm's way. We had about 20 units here who stayed to weather the storm, including us, out of a total of 178 units, all included.

Ken -- Keep me in mind for some cut bars and mu hoses for F-Units - Also spark arrests if you have any? Ha, I need grab irons as well!
I did purchase one of the Walthers dress up kits, but I do not think it contains grabs for the nose ladder?

You and the misses was very lucky. Not sure if I would have had the guts to do that. My cousin in Sebring rode it out as well, as did my former tax man's wife in Ft Myers.

    Thanks.

    Sherrel -
We stayed to weather out Irma for a number of reasons. First, the old pros who also live here advised to stick it out, and gave us a number of prep tips. Second, our building is fully up to Florida code, third we only were aware the storm was going to hit Naples dead on about a day in advance, and fourth, evacuating late in the game was not wise, as the storm was going to run up all of Florida, we were out of gas here a couple of days in advance, and I-75 was a parking lot from about Sarasota up to Georgia and beyond. Normally, it takes about five hours to run up I-75 from Naples to Georgia, assuming a couple of brief stops, and requires one full tank of gas. People who did evacuate tell us it took them over twice that much time, and they had to wait around for gas, many slept in their cars. Next time we will do a few things a bit different, but in general we were OK. We were lucky on the storm surge matter. Next time I'll get our good car, a VW Touareg, up in a parking garage early on, or someplace well inland, and keep only our VW Tiguan in the garage. Yes, I did sell my Audi in StL last year before we moved. I still miss it a whole bunch. Gotta get another one!

Regarding spark arrestors for F-units, I generally used Details West 235-123 metal castings. Walthers has them, they look good. There are better ones in brass which I used on the Genesis F3's, Overland 9561, but they are expensive and hard to find. I got lucky and bought mine at Tinker Town's going out of business sale at a discount.
I just got my new Walthers catalog (not as complete as previous issues as it is now all scales, not just HO). I'll keep my eye open for cut levers for F's.

Walther's carries Detail West cut levers: part no. 235-316 for $2.75 for a pair. Larry F.

Yes, Larry F nailed it! Details West part 235-316 is a set of two (2) cut levers fabricated for the front of F-units per the Walthers catalog. You get two cut lever parts for the price of $2.75. Assuming they are in stock, I'm going to order some.

If anybody else has some of those headlight brackets, I could use a few -- apparently I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The only one I've actually managed to get was almost $15 which is somewhat uneconomical for a larger locomotive fleet.

Walthers still lists the brass version but shows it to be out of stock with no guidance as to when more will be available. Check with Walthers to see if the plastic version is still available.

You might also try to contact the manufacturer, Precision Scale Company, to see what their availability is. Their address is:

    3961 Highway 93 North
    Stevensville, Montana 59870

The part number is 31607 for brass, 31608 for plastic. The size and appearance of the plastic version is the same as the brass version, both quite nice.
    Good luck.

    Thanks, Ken.

Already done some research and PSC seems to have discontinued these a while back, both brass and plastic.

    Guess it'll just take time.

PSC still lists them in both the HO stream catalog and the price list.

    K27463,

Were you able to find any of these on PSC? That were in stock? If not, I will be glad to share one of the plastic ones if you would like, I know that isn't enough for the fleet, but would get another one done.

Just let me know if your interested,

    Matt in Alabama
