South Clinton, MP 85.4 - Interlocking Tower - Osceola Subdivision (KCCS) - MKT Sedalia Subdivision, MP - ???.?

Although not in its original location, this tower which protected the KCCS/MKT crossing, still stands in South Clinton.

The tower was manned by Katy personnel. The structure is very similar to other MKT interlocking plants that were located at North Clinton (MKT-KCOS), Griffith (Ft Scott), KS (MKT-MP), and Greenville, TX (MKT-StLSW) to name a few.

Edit: Begging Karl's forgiveness, I have added photos that I took of the South Clinton Tower on November 26, 2010 during a Walk in the Weeds.

It is located in the back yard of a private residence approximately two blocks west of its original location.

    (klrwhizkid)

The location address is 520 West Rogers Street, Clinton, MO 64735-2549.

    Photograph views:
Photo 1 - West and south walls with upper windows, upper and lower doors and staircase on west wall at southwest corner.
Photo 2 - Northeast corner showing upper windows, upper and lower door locations and truncated staircase.
Photo 3 - Nearly identical photograph at the northeast corner. Note the chimney extending from the north roof quarter.
Photo 4 - East wall with upper and lower floor windows and north wall with lower floor window at northeast corner.
Photo 5 - Nearly identical shot as photo 4 at northeast corner. Note the chimney protruding above the roof on the northwest corner.
Photo 6 - Relatively blank north wall with protruding reinforcing ribs. Note the truncated staircase to the upper floor on the west wall.

Note - It appears that when the tower was moved to its current location it was rotated clockwise 90 degrees. The photograph north wall was the west wall in its original location. This orientation places the upper floor windows with the best view of the tracks and the front wall full bank of windows facing the busier Katy tracks.

Edit 1/19/2024: Added location address, photograph view narratives and building orientation note.

    Karl,

I have tried to find this tower in both Katy and Frisco Timetables and I just can not find it's listing.

It should be in the Eastern Division Clinton Subdivision at what Milepost, do you know?

    Richard,

The KCCS/MKT interlocker would have been listed on the Osceola Subdivision.

I am still in NYC and will get you more information later.

The KCCS ETT #27, 6/12/1910 places the MKT/KCCS crossing at MP P75.2.
