I was outside doing some yard work just a bit ago today, and I noticed the US Mail delivery van go by. As I walked out to the mailbox a bit later, I seemed to hear a familiar sound from my memory of long ago - the sound of two "Racehorse" E8's arriving at the Rolla, Mo depot with Frisco #9, The Meteor, on time at 8:24pm. Yes!, the long-awaited TRRA H&TS publication on the Frisco's flagship passenger train has arrived! I haven't read a word of it yet, just flipped through the pages. Excellent! Nice job Larry Thomas! Those of you who are not TRRA H&TS members (why not?), or who have not yet ordered a copy of this issue, get on your horse and order it now. Like the recent TRRA publication on the Texas Special, it won't last long before going out of stock. I'm excited. Ken
I would like to get a copy of the TRRA issue reference The Meteor but I am not a member of TRRA. If I send them $40 membership dues it is only good until the end of December and then I have to pay another $40 for 2016. I want to join but not until January 1st so does anyone know of any way I can purchase Issue # 75?
When you join TRRAHS in 2015, you'll get the 2015 special issue The Meteor. When you pay your 2016 dues, you'll receive the 2016 special issue. Tom G.

I just talked with Larry Thomas. For those of you who want to order TRRAH&TS publication #75 on the Meteor, the shipping cost within the US is $5.00, plus $40.00 for the softcover book. As I mentioned in a posting back in July, Larry printed the same number of "Meteor" books as he did the earlier "Texas Special" issue (now sold out). If you want one, it would be wise to order it soon. Ken
Charlie, Yes. Confusing, and not the way I would have shown it, but the back issue order form on their web page says normal shipping for back issues is indeed $1.00. But, this is for the older "thin" publications, which were published several times each year, usually quarterly, and were quite good. Starting with issue #61/62, which began the current practice of publishing one, big, thick gloss paper soft cover book per year, such as the current Meteor issue #75 for 2015. The form says $40.00 for the book, plus the $1.00 shipping noted at the top of the form, plus $4.00 additional shipping. Thus the $5.00 Larry confirmed today. The book is heavy, and is shipped in a very sturdy cardboard package, clearly costing more than $1.00. So be it. Ken
I'd like to put in another plug for the TRRA Meteor issue! I'm a hard core Frisco passenger car geek and I thought I'd seen about every Frisco passenger car photo in existence but there are a couple dozen in there that are new to me. Also this book is loaded with details and information on the Meteor and Frisco passenger service in general. It's a super production. It's also a good value, especially compared to the $60 or so for Morning Sun or Four Ways West books. Tom G.

Thanks for the heads up, Ken. I ordered mine the day you originally posted the alert. I am looking forward for this book, and if it is as great as the Texas Special edition, I will have many hours of reading and rereading the text. I can hardly wait for my book, also. Terry
