Does any one know of photos of Pullman cars ca. 1906?
I found and bought a metal placard( see photo) that was affixed to a Frisco passenger car. Through some research, I found that. "Series J " trust was for 16 cars from Pullman- 10 coaches and 6 combines. Just wondering if any photos of this exists. We have so little on older passenger equipment, I had to get it to preserve it.
    Thanks for any help/ direction.

I am a bit skeptical that this plate is related to anything purchased during 1906, because the SL-SF Ry. did not exist under that name at that time.

"In 1952, Girard Trust Company acquired The Corn Exchange Bank's Philadelphia branch, and renamed itself Girard Trust Corn Exchange Bank. From 1964 to 1969, the bank was known as Girard Trust Company; in 1969, it was renamed Girard Trust Bank, later Girard Bank."

The item is an Equipment Trust Certificate plate , a commonly used means of financing the purchase of engines and cars. The issue in question is modern (for example the Series "M "ETC matured in 1965. You can get an exact maturity date by checking the Frisco Annual Annual Reports on this website. The font style is modern.
Older ETC plates are generally made of cast steel or aluminum.

Sorry if you all think this is not real. I based my conclusion on a reprint of a govt . Book," Poor's Government And Municipal Supplement " found on Google Books. I guess I'd just better quit trying to preserve what I believe is our RR's history. I'll post a link to it when I get back to my computer- my phone is limited .

    Dan,

Your plate is real; it just doesn't have anything do with passenger cars that were bought from Pullman circa 1906. This plate is much newer, and based on the name of the trust company, it covers an equipment purchase made between 1952 and 1963.

The Frisco had three names in its history: St. Louis and San Francisco Railway Company 9-11-1876- 6-28-1896
St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad Company 6-29- 1896 to 8-23-1916
St. Louis -San Francisco Railway Company 8-24-1916 to 11-20-1985
Your ETC plate is an attractive visual record of the Frisco's financial history. It will look great in your man cave or train operations center.

Please note 11-20-1985 should read 11-20- 1980. Sorry

I wish it would have been 1985. That would have given us five more years before "gangreen" set in.
