I am a new Member and welcome any information regarding a Frisco caboose that I purchased and plan on restoring. The number inside is labeled 11517 and on the exterior it is 1164. Any information would be appreciated and I look forward to learning more about this piece of history. Thank you.
Welcome aboard ! Please post some recent pics of your caboose, we would love to see them. 1164 is one of the cabooses that Frisco bought used from the Santa Fe, Frisco used them in local service. There are some old pics of 1164 in various locations on this site. Tell us about your restoration plans, are you going to restore her to Frisco paint and lettering ? I would love to see you post pics of your progress too. If you decide you want to part with the caboose give me a shout.
I have been looking for one for years and found this caboose as it was about to be cut up for scrap. The scrapping process had already started on a Rock Island passenger car. Yes, I plan on restoring back to original Frisco colors. I will post pictures. Thanks for your reply.
Very cool, glad to know you saved her from the torch. Have you moved her yet? Where will her new location be? We like to keep track of the remaining cabooses if all possible. Mark Davidson put together a list that can be found on this site called "Frisco preserved cabooses" and it details remaining Frisco cabooses and the locations.
