Guys: I have a Hallmark HO scale brass TEXAS SPECIAL set which includes two E7 powered locomotives and nine cars ( one RPO, 2 coaches, 1 coach/buffet/lounge, 1 full diner, 2 14-4 sleepers, 1 PRR 10-5 sleeper painted for Frisco/Katy service and one observation lounge). I am CONSIDERING placing this set up for sale. Question is, does anyone have any idea what would be a reasonable asking price? I am not a "brass guy," don't own any brass guides, don't really want to get involved in this segment of the hobby/market. Any ideas at all? If it helps, I received this set as a gift. Someone had owned it previously and applied decals to the cars. However, for me it has been a shelf model only. GS
GS, According to the current BrassGuide book, the following prices are as follows: HO DIESEL TXSPC EMD E-7 AA SET $425, HO PASSENGER NAME TRAIN TEXAS SPECIAL TXSPC CHAIR $235, HO PASSENGER NAME TRAIN TEXAS SPECIAL TXSPC PULLMAN $235, HO PASSENGER NAME TRAIN TEXAS SPECIAL TXSPC PULLMAN $235
Thanks, Manny and Rich for the information. If we assume 9 cars at $235 and a power set at $1200, it comes to about $3300. Probably not worth selling. GS
Ummm...I think these brass guides are like the folks who walk into the Pawn Stars shop in Vegas thinking they have a bar of gold. Last year, I picked up 3 of the 14-4's and one 10-5 for 200 bux total. Keep the set, Greg. You know you love it! R Bob
I still have my HO Frisco set made up of 2 "home grown" [ painted and lettered ] E-8's and IHC cars. I don't do HO anymore, but still enjoy them. My grandson will probably enjoy them too! DAn
So, there was an identical set that was on (I think) ebay a month or so back that was supposedly going for $6500.00. Does anyone know whether that set sold? (seems like a lot for a toy.) GS
That $6500 figure was for the newer and more detailed Overland Texas Special set; http://www.brasstrains.com/Classic/...-E-7-Diesels-4-Add-On-Cars-w--Interior-Lights The Overland set is definitely for someone with "disposable" income. TG
