Greg's suggestion is even better; use them to produce another book and then sell what has been acquired to acquire more images.

 

Outstanding idea! Would there be any limits on our ability to publish the slides?

Fellow Frisco Fanatics,

Here is the monthly report for August:

We will finish August with 81 posts, one more than the month before. Now, good news/bad news time.

Good news first:

• I can assure you that September will be a good month on the Frisco Archive as we will be posting an extra image each day (beginning September 1). It's not that we are just upping the post count; one of our good friends is adding images to his Frisco Archive Collection this month and I am really excited about that (and I know that you will be too)!
• Bob is back to scanning the slides that are on hand. This is very exciting because it gives us a good mix of images to post! I always get excited when I look in Dropbox to find new images.

Bad news:

• My main computer died and that is going to slow me down but my goal is to keep the posts current in spite of this while I get it fixed.
• We are out of money. I don't know what else to say about that. When we get money we will acquire slides. There are still good ones out there. When people donate that is what the money is spent on.

Folks, we still need material to be donated. Some of you have great collections and we seek to post the content. We are not asking you to give us your material permanently. We just want to scan! This is an electronic museum. Pictures, slides, negatives, documents, etc.

On a related note, I bought three MOW negatives recently. I was disappointed to find that there is no place locally that can develop the slides anymore so I have to find a place to send them to. Does anyone know a good place to have negatives developed? If so, PM me please.

Also, we seek your comments on the images posted. To comment you must be a member of the Frisco Archive. As the software that drives the Frisco Archive is not the same as the software that drives the forum, you must register separately to be able to log in to the Frisco Archive. To register, click here. Folks, I am happy to announce that Paul donated $500 yesterday for the Frisco Archive. This is an extremely generous donation and will aid this project greatly! If this spurs others to donate then it will serve a dual purpose. I know most people can't donate that kind of money but even if we can raise another couple of hundred dollars on the short term, it will help us a lot!

Thanks again Paul and I think all of us owe Paul a big thank you for this gift!

Thank you Bob. This is more good news because I have several other negatives on hand. So folks, if you have negatives, please consider allowing Bob to scan them (and I will pay the postage both ways).

A third item to add to the discussion today, and this one goes under the "good news" heading as well: Greg Stout has agreed to become the keeper of the slides. We all know Greg from the site as well as his books. So, I think it is a no-brainer to have Greg be the choice to keep the slides on hand. As a result, in the future, I will send the slides to Bob, and after Bob has scanned, they will go to Greg. Any further disposition will be agreed upon by the masses.

Tomorrow afternoon will be out last Monett Collection post. I would like to thank the contributor and remind folks that we need more material to be contributed to continue on with new material.

At midnight tonight we will celebrate the one year anniversary of the Frisco Archive. Our first post was at midnight on September 17, 2013.

It's been a fun year and we look forward to the next year!

The Frisco Archive will finish September with 108 posts! This breaks our record of 90 posts in April. This increase is due to contributions to the project by some of our fine members. Particularly, I am excited about the return of the evening steam posts. I feel that these really enhance the site.

Special thanks to Don, Roger and Bob for their great contributions!

As I posted earlier, the Frisco Archive is now one year old. Every month brings the addition of great content.

Also, a special thank you to Paul Slavens ($500) and William Jackson ($100) for their donations this month! This really helps us a lot folks and even if you can't afford a donation of that sort of amount, you can help. $20 can help us get some great content for the site. This is content that is shared with everyone and we hope will live in the net forever.

As previously announced, Greg Stout will become the keeper of the slides. This is good news because we all know Greg from the site and his great books. He is a natural choice to be the gentleman to keep the slides safe for us.

Our final note this month is again to appeal to you folks to donate content. We don't want to keep slides, photos, documents, etc. We just want to scan and post them. Some of you have great collections of content that would enhance the site. Brochures, reports, images, anything relating to the history of the Frisco.

Again, we ask you to help. Please contact me if you are willing.
