Yes indeed, as soon as I get myTCS T6X six function decoder I will finish up the installation on my new FF7A. EMD never had any double cab diesels, but my RR has one with headlight, mars light, and rotary beacon on both ends. It has been a fun model to build based on a suggestion from this very web site!

HA, Richard, that was the first thing my eyes spotted in the photo.
And a classic paint job on it too.
Can't wait to see the meteor article on it.

    Manny,

Your double ended EMD double cab diesel has relatives! Clyde Engineering of Sydney, Austrailia, built 26 ML2 diesel-electric locomtives in Granville, New South Wales, in 1951-53, for the Victorian Railways in Austrailia. Clyde was the EMD license holder in Austrailia. They had 1500 HP and rode on C-C trucks and were gauged for the VR's 5 ft. 3 in. track. They wore a scheme based on the Erie Railroad's freight colors that EMD designed. Visit www.victorianrailways.net and pull up Motive Power and check out the B class ML2.

See, there IS a prototype for everything!

Now you need a red version for passenger service! I would call her "The Flying Red Horse" based on the Mobilgas emblem that used to greet you at gas stations when you could still buy cheap gas and there is still the one on top of the old Magnolia Building in downtown Dallas! When built it was deemed the tallest building in Big D and you could see the horse as far away as Sherman, Texas, when illuminated at night according to Ed Chambers. I Googled Magnolia Building Dallas and brought up some real nice photos of it.

Remember now, when it was constructed there wasn't anything between Dallas and Sherman other than miles and miles and more miles and miles unless a crow invaded the air space! LOL

Joe, I think the double ended diesel belongs to Richard. Manny is allergic to diesel fuel:)

My profound apologies to Manny. His Golden Era layout models up to 1917 if memory serves me well. I left the cap off of my old tube of model airplane glue!

By the way, Manny,(way off topic of course) I've got the same Frisco coffee cup on my desk at work as well as a 1916ish timetable on the wall. Now back on topic. Hurry up (in all your spare time ha ha) and paint those PC board ties! They're killin me.

I'm going to get a can of Floquil Rail Brown spray tomorrow. I have to order the spike pliers from Micro-Mark too. I looked at all those ties and all those spikes and went "OMG, that's a lot of spikes!" All in the days work though.

    Manny,

I guess you can really sing that song to the tune of driving spikes now?

Can you drive them home or do you miss a lick once in a while? You do have a hard hat and steel toe boots I hope!

John Henry would be proud of you!

LOL... Yeah, I have a 1930 recording of the song, and the lyrics are the original writing, so it's fun to sing it. I picked up a can of Floquil Rail Brown today so I'm about to paint the rails and PC Board ties. Be back in a few...

Floquil SUCKS BIG TIME! Just ruined the track. I have to make a new section and figure out another option for coloring the PC Ties.

    Kinda green isn't it?

Yeah, it is. I was totally disappointed in the color. Olive Drab to be exact. I spoke with Terry at Fast Tracks and he gave me new instructions. I'm going to try it and see what happens. I may also try using a Brown Sharpie Pen. May be easier. I don't think I'm in the mood right now to weather the rail.

I used a micro brush with rust colored brownish paint. Worked well for me.
