I am just curious, are there any Frisc0 depots or stations left standing and in use today.

I know of Union Station in St. Louis, but as for the rest of them, I have no idea.

Union Depot in Tulsa is still standing and is now the home of the Jazz Hall of Fame.

Like St. Louis, however, there are important parts gone (concourse, stairs down to tracks, platforms, etc.), but thankfully the main part of the depot has been saved.

Kansas City Union Station is also still standing.

Maybe some of the KC guys can fill us in as to what parts may be gone, if any.

Neodesha, KS is still standing and is used by Watco for their operations.

It is a metal shed in the yard that served as depot in final years.

    Bristow, OK, now city offices.

In the 1980s my father, mother and I drove the whole Frisco System. At that time there were only about 12 depots still standing and none of them were used by the railroad.

We can thank Big Nothing for that!

Is the Webster Groves, MO depot still there?

They used to have a model railroad club layout there.

    Tom,

The Webster Groves, MO depot is still there, but in need of roof replacement.

It is my understanding that the model railroad club is trying to get financial assistance, but the city is not interested.

The Mission Style depot in Poplar Bluff, MO is still there.

    See my pictures.

    Richard and All:

    Augusta, KS is still standing.

In some states, I believe including here in Kansas, railroads demolished or sold depots to get them off of tax roles.

That to me is just smart economics!

The Carthage, MO depot still exists.

It has been moved a little over a mile to private property.

It shares space with a former MP caboose that has been painted in Frisco colors.

  10. Here are the first couple Frisco depots I can think of that still exist.

    Fort Smith, AR - museum
Van Buren, AR - museum/train station for A&M RR
    Fayyettville, AR - Mexican restaurant
Mammoth Springs, AR - museum with Frisco caboose on display
    Phocohantas, A R - church
Bentonville, AR - museum/Chamber of Commerce. Has a CRIP caboose painted in SL-SF paint.

    This is the Arkansas List.

    Ship it on the Frisco!

    Keith,

Do they have a museum in the depot there?

I talked to a fellow by phone a few years back, as their Historic Society was getting ready to observe the anniversary of the tornado that flattened the original depot and subsequently led to the construction of the extant version.

However, I cannot recall if their society/museum occupies the building or not.

    Best Regards,

I had no idea the depot in Neodesha, KS was the old depot.

I used to work out of that building. I knew it belonged to Frisco because I found a lot of old Frisco documents in some of the lockers there years ago. But I figured it was just the old yard office. I have seen pictures of the original Neodesha depot from back in the steam days.

My new layout is planned to fill a 3 car garage and be double decked and so I am planning on covering a lot of real estate but in HO scale. Trying to plan an area to cover.

Also surviving on the former Bentonville Branch is the depot at Southwest City, Missouri.

It is located in a field about one-half mile from the original location. As of July 2009, it was in an advanced state of decay. The depot was painted as the Liberty City depot in the 1939 film Jesse James.

The depot at Okmulgee , OK is used by BNSF field forces.

    Riverton, KS depot was moved.

It is behind a house in Baxter Springs.

The Waco, MO depot is behind a house about a block east of it's original location.

The old station east of Aberdeen, MS (Aberdeen Jct.) is still standing beside the old Frisco track on the east bank of the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway.

The line was moved for construction of the waterway near the end of the Frisco era.

    What about Steelville, MO?

    Is it still standing?

It was the last time I was down there, but that was about ten years ago.

Steelville, MO was still there when I passed through a few weeks ago and snapped this picture with my phone.

It seems to be occupied by some sort of civic group.
