I haven't seen this reported before, but it appears that Intermountain has a 50' PS-1 boxcar painted for the Frisco in the pipeline. A photo in the middle of page 64 of Molo's Frisco/Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment seems to be the inspiration for this model:

These may have been the cars that were refurbished in the late 1970s for tire service. Need to check the Molo book . . .

    Rick and All:

According to Molo's book this is indeed the car that was refurbished for tire service by the application of a special coating to the exterior. He also points out that the Frisco had two major tire plants on the system, a BF Goodrich in Miami, OK and a Goodyear plant in Lawton, OK. One could assume that these cars would travel all over the system and beyond to tire distributors in major and intermediate cities. If anyone else can add to or modify these comments, please do so. We are continuing our efforts to try and establish car movements for operating purposes.

Oops! I just noticed that there is now a "New Products" catagory. This thread should have probably been posted there. If any moderator wants to move it, I have no objections. --Rich

Has this car just now been announced? Or has it been promised a while?? I see it's advertised release is December! I've been waiting for the IM release of the N scale Frisco black and yellow FP-7 and companion F-7B unit which is also advertised (Now) as a December release. A word to the wise: Intermountain is VERY irregular! I've had a pre-order for the FP-7 since JUNE 2010! FYI.

I believe this has been out a while. I preordered mine a few months back. I think they are due in Nov/Dec.

Also an HO boxcar and an N scale locomotive may be different "animals" with completely different schedules.

There seem to be quite a few problems or issues within China that are also filtering into the model railroad industry. S Helper ServiceĀ“s S scale Showcase Line has a post regarding this problem.

We might see some manufacturers returning to the good old US of A if the trend continues.

Good, I just spent my remaining train fund $$ on an undec 0-8-0 for the MKT Glen Park Yard. Switching back to 1947-50 at present.
