I'm looking for "online" stores with used HO scale items. I still operate plenty of hook horn couplers (with a few transition cars). "Snipers" have ruined ebay for me by waiting until the last milisecond to outbid me. I refuse to sit at a computer and waist time by waiting on the last seconds of an auction just to "win." I just want to find rock bottom prices on used HO items without all the fuss. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be thankful.

Have you tried HOYARDSALE on Yahoo? All that requires is watching your email. The emails come to you. I have found Frisco items there do not sell. Being retired, I get paid at end of month so save e-mails and write back then and Frisco items are more often than not still there. Prices often lower than eBay.

Understand your eBay grief but I may do better because of odd times I can be on computer. You would find me worse than a sniper as I bid what think is fair price based on market if really want something really bad. Sniper tops my bid is his grief as he has to pay over me. If you see it once on eBay you will see it again, you lose nothing in losing. There will always be another auction. Best time for Frisco items is early Sunday morning when post after Sunday sales or no later than Tuesdays.

I also find in taking time to chew the fat with sales folks and asking about more Frisco has provided me probably as much off eBay direct buys as on. May get turned down a lot but you would be surprised what I do get. But the good stuff comes with a price. You pay well and talk to the seller decent they don't mind comming back to you with more what you shop for. Can be like making friends here?

You are doing right thing though. Never never ever give up on asking. The stuff is out there. If I have helped shoot myself in remaining foot on future sales so be it as eBay can be an addiction! Ha!

    My Best Wishes!

For the record, I am about to look at HOYARDSALE. I got "addicted" to ebay once. I learned that in order to win bids, I had to sit and watch the auction in the last seconds and try to out-snipe the snipers. Then I just got tired of snipers, and something I never really understood..."proxy bidding" where ebay would tell me "you're the highest bidder" until the auction ended...then I would find out that hours or days before I placed my final bid, someone else had bid higher by proxy. Why did ebay tell me "you're the highest bidder" if someone else had already bid higher? That's just ridiculous. I considered it to be a lie. It turned me against ebay's online absolute auctions...because they're not really absolute auctions at all as ebay claims. Why don't they just operate on a "sealed bid" principle and be done with it? If I had the time, I'd watch ebay a little closer. For now, I avoid it.

Several of my friends on this forum use HOYARDSALE and have spoken highly of it. I would say that it probably leans more to selling items than finding them but people do post WTB listings. Since the transaction process is private I don't know how much success they have in their WTB efforts.

HOYARDSALE seems to be a right friendly bunch of folks....the moderator rules with an iron fist, which is good because he keeps things on the up and up. I've had some luck there finding stuff. Ebay..... HA! They are fast running everybody off with their cryptic and strange rules that only THEY seem to know.

    Enjoy HOYardSale

Exactly on both, is why I quit selling on eBay. Rules and entire feedback is bogus. HOYARDSALE comes up on PC maybe three to six times an hour with average of 9 e-mails. I scan and if nothing that looking for get rid of them pronto. Met some good decent folks there. I been searching for stuff I guess since came back into hobby. Guess you have to take time and simply shop. If there were an easy way to get this stuff, might not be as fun? Sorry I talk so much! Again best wishes!

    Nice Price HO.

I go to the NMRA Directory of Web Sites and have found these On-Line Hobby Shop dealers with real good afforable HO as well as other scales:

Caboose Hobbies, both brass and non-brass consignments.
    The Caboose, ditto.
Chuck´s Brass Models, ditto. Some of the lowest prices for brass, non-brass and books. A real good honest dealer!
Jay´s Trains, ditto. He currently has a great Fall Sale going on with added discounts for multiple purchases. Has quite a few Frisco items!

www.preownedtrains.com has a lot of HO and N at fantastic prices. Another honest wheeler dealer!

All are EZ to deal with and no bidding. First come, first served, of course!

Use the search box on HOYARDSALE. I just typed "Frisco" in the box and got 348 hits in all.
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.
