Frisco Folk, I'm truly sorry that I missed out! I will have to cling to the potential promise of a more suitable layout space in our new house (which necessitated the work on our current house this past weekend).

As my Cubs' fan friends always say, "Maybe next year." :) Thanks to all for the updates and for the pictures and for keeping the Frisco alive and well.

In case you were wondering, here's our fearless leader at the throttle:

He's running that freight you see approaching 19th St. Yard in Rick's layout. Sorry they weren't black & yellow or even steam, but hey.....they did run great.

I myself had fun running the Ft. Scott, local, even if I did spend an awful lot of time in the hole waiting for those pesky road freights to get out of my way so I could do some work:rolleyes::D

Even though Rick's layout is not completed, it was fun to operate, and I got a boatload of pictures (and a few YouTube videos) of the action.

I had to take a rain check on the train ride since the missus needed me home early. but I did get shots along the Afton Sub for research towards my hoped-for layout.

It sounds like the convention was fun this year. I wish I could have been there, but I made a commitment to the brotherhood (Lamar Tiger High School football, if you want to know what exactly what the brotherhood is, contact me) and so I had a Friday night game to be at (even though I'm a freshman). Plus game film the next morning. It will probably be after I graduate high school before I can make it to another Frisco convention, unless it was scheduled before the end of July. Any way I hope you all had fun. I will try hard to make it up there before Rick switches back to 1950, but that possibly will be December, depending on how far we go in the play offs.

I managed to secure a cab ride on the return trip of the Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad on Sunday by merely asking for it. Picture 1 is the view from the front of the GP9 before we started back. Pictures 2 & 3 shows the engineer controlling the train as it moves forward. Picture 4 is the fireman viewing the rails ahead with the door open. In Picture 5 the engineer manuvers the train to an exact stop so it will line up with the steps. The crew let me indulge in any 8 year olds' dream of blowing the horn and shutting off the engine.

Thanks to all who put together this convention; I had a lot of fun!

Uh oh, my hat size just grew three sizes after those kind remarks. Thanks Mark. Ditto on your other comments, especially the manufacturers. They items were well received and I for one received something I really like. Next year's convention is too far away. I hope we can get together before then.

    Best,

Great photo - reminds us old timers of the group photo on the turntable back in the early 80's.

Hello, and long time no see, to Glenn Young, Tony LaLumia, Larry Parrish, Bradley Scott, and Rick McClellan.

    WE'RE aging gracefully.

    Howdy,

While not directly related to the convention, I received a call while in Kansas City from a fella named Norm Eubanks. I recall Norm was in the early FMIG. He ordered a Frisco flat car. He is still in Wichita Falls and asked about many of the ole' FMIG gang, including Doug. He also asked about several others who had traveled to the undiscovered country. So, hello from Norm. If you want to contact him, holler and I'll send you the details.

    Happy rails,
    mike

Glenn is really taller than the photo would suggest. He's just leaning into the railing.

Thanks for the note, I have one drafted echoing the same complements, but with one addition: Rick McClellan for the fantastic operations night on his layout, and most likely, spiritual guidance for the group.

Thanks to all who did such a wonderful job putting the convention together. I can't wait for the next one.

Most especially, I enjoyed putting faces with handles and names. For me, that was the very best. Thanks to all who prepared and attended.

    Warm regards,
    mike

As regards to next year, I have a request out to a group in Springfield asking if they would like to be the local contact and they will be taking it up at their next business meeting. Hopefully they will say yes and then we can set a date and start working on 2011. If you would like to help out please let me know.
