    Howdy folks,

FRISCo_Org has been around since 1994 and survived largely because of the congenial atmosphere created by its members. The forum has grown from a small group of 25 Frisco Folks to well over 1000. With that growth comes a few growing pains, hence this message.

We have a free and uncensored forum. It is self policed, and you may notice that generally, we don't curse, show prejudice, or assassinate a person's character here. Indeed, our goal is for adolescents and teens to be able to participate as well as adults without fear of unsavory conduct.

In keeping with the traditions we've established, let's continue to be objective but courteous in our debates and refrain from maligning manufacturers for trivial omissions in products. As one who has had to scratchbuild most of my Frisco equipment in the past, I am delighted to see so much Frisco equipment being produced today. I for one hope that manufacturers will want to visit FRISCo_Org to get diagrams, specifications, constructive feedback, and helpful points of view that will help them make more money from selling Frisco related products.

In the coming weeks, lets discuss what it would take to become the GO TO RESOURCE for Frisco prototype information and guidance for manufacturers, modelers, and railfans. PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD.

I am disappointed that more manufacturers aren’t active on the forum and hope we can figure out what to do to make FRISCo_Org the best place for them to advertise their Frisco related wares and improve their business. Let’s also keep the discussions on the positive side and define tangible activities we can do to achieve this goal.

Thanks again to the hundreds of forum members for the support and time spent sharing history, thoughts, ideas, perspectives, and experiences about the Frisco.

    With best regards,
    Mike Corley

Its there anyway to notify walthers, athearn, atlas, etc.and tell them what we would like to see produced and provide them with pictures, diagrams etc. for them to produce these items? I have a business card somewhere (I'll try to find it) for an Athearn representative I'll give him a call and tell him about FRISCo_Org and see if he will bite the hook so to speak. I would personally like to see more FRISCO steam era stuff like locomotives, passenger equipment, and rollingstock added to the manufactures list. There are alot of boxcars but I want a larger variety.

There are already people on this group that are working directly with Athearn and they are well aware of this site. Wehave already recieved and are going to recieve items from them as a direct influence of Frisco Folks on this group.

I agree we have good contacts at this point. What we really need is information like paint diagrams, good color photos, numbering information, etc.

The next 12-18 months are going to be great for us Frisco peeps. Start saving your $$.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

    Mike,

In the very near future, I am going to be buying a scanner and will help start the Prototype Archive that Manufacturers could use. They will probably need some pretty good resolution for the photos, diagrams, etc. Will that cause any problems on the website?

Will - Though there are a number of contacts going on with the manufacturers (I'm communicating with Kadee), please do add to the discussions by talking with your contact with Athearn.

These guys are favorably impressed with the Frisco as they have all had some success with their models in Frisco colors. The more and more we make them aware of our demand potential, the better!

I currently have established a good contact with Athearn that I feel confident is the person that either makes the decisions as to what will be produced or is highly influential in the process. If anyone on the loop would like to see something done at Athearn, please let me know and I will be happy to pass it along.Bob HooverFriscoFriend

    Howdy Rick,

We don't have any problems with capacity on the website. The donations allow me to subscribe to a train load of storage space. In the past, I was limited to one fourth as much.

The additional space has let us add the All Aboard issues, FMIG Lines, and Meteor without difficulty.

One of my dreams was to have a diagram or photo for every station, and we are almost there with that one. Next I hope we can get a photo and diagram for freight cars, passenger cars, cabooses, locomotives, etc. Baby steps, one day at a time.

Your photo additions would be a tremendous help.

    Best,
    mike

I have sent e-mails to the major " large scale" manufacturers, to let them know we are here, and that we BIG TRAIN operators would like to see some more Frisco goodies on the market. So far, I have seen three freight car examples and the " Texas Special" passenger cars in " G" scale. I wish we could get away from the G scale moniker! That unfortunatly encompasses about 5 different scales that run on the same gauge track! Like we needed more confusion.

I really don't understand why model manufacturers have to be "told" about the Texas Special and Meteor!!?? They were the coolest trains of them all bar none--INCLUDING Chiefs, Zephyrs, Empire Builder, UP "Cities," Broadway, 20th Century, etc. etc. etc. None of those trains had the "gasp" value of the TS or Meteor! ALL those trains and many more have been produced in quality style in many scales--And many of those trains have been offered multiple times! STILL no Texas Special or Meteor! What will it take...

Bob, I would like to see Athearn come out with more steam. Maybe do a run of 0-8-0's, 4-8-2's or maybe even see them produce a 4-8-4. Shoot, a 4-6-2 or 4-6-4 would be something awesome, but also I would like to see more FRISCO steam era cars in general, besides just boxcars. Gondola's, tanks, flats, bulkheads, anything that the FRISCO had built from the 20's to the 50's in rolling stock would be really nice. These are things on my wish list for Athearn. Also something that would be really neat is to see them produce cars that were affiliated with FRISCO like QA&P etc...|-|:)|-|:)|-|

I spend more time here than other websites for precisely the reasons Mike mentions--couple the congenial, collegial atmosphere with some VERY talented and knowledgeable people and you have an excellent resource.

That said, I can't remember anyone maligning manufacturers on Frisco.org. Some have pointed out errors or discrepancies in models, but usually with an "I'm just glad it's Frisco," and "how can we fix it," attitude. I was greatly shocked and chagrined to read on this site that Atlas does not want to produce any more GP-7s in Frisco B&G because of complaints from Frisco modelers. Compared to the whining, bashing, and complaining of products one sees on other websites, (for instance, Atlas's), this site has been very polite.

I think we're on the right track; we just need to make manufacturers aware of what's here and what they can gain from participating on Frisco.org.

I used to ask all my questions about trains on the ModelRailRoader Magazine forums, until a couple people posted links to threads on here, then I did all my questions on here. I went back to MRR forums a couple days ago to ask one thing. I agrea with the fact that there need to be more frisco on the market. I can only think of one Brand new RTR steamer on the market that's frisco and that is the Bachmann Spec. 2-10-0.

I don't understand Atlas' thinking on their HO black/yellow Frisco GP7 models!

Even if the road numbers they picked were wrong for the model "phase" they made, these items sold out in a flash. When you find one or both on eBay now, they sell for pretty good prices.

Why would Atlas not want to release two more b/y GP7's, this time using correct numbers? Heck, all they have to do is to change the numbers on the cab sides and in the numberboards, and press the go button! I am quite confident they would sell!

I'm sure they would--while folks pointed out they had the incorrect number, I don't think it stopped anyone from buying. But then Dale had this post, which really surprised me: http://www.frisco.org/vb/showpost.php?p=18275&postcount=17
But that proves Mike's point--Atlas could have got it right, if they had popped in here first. Or they could announce Frisco releases here--I've bought items after reading about them here.

Looking at their N scale VO1000s and RS1s, Atlas has proved they can produced a good-looking Frisco diesel- why, even the GP38s, GP38-2s and B30-7s look really nice! The GP15-1s? Well, the paint job is good, even though the air filter is wrong for Frisco.

With that, I feel they could come out with a nice GP7 in the black & yellow, full-striped or otherwise.

    Hi guys,
I just recieved replies from Aristocraft and Mikes Train House. They both said that they would take a look at our site, and to watch for future announcements. Aristocraft just does large scale now, but Mikes Train House does multiple scales/gauges. Maybe some one will listen.:D

I think we should also submit buildings that the FRISCO had to people like WAlthers, Atlas, manufacturers who produce buildings. I would like to see maybe 2 or 3, or perhaps more FRISCO correct structures. A few depots, a Roundhouse, etc. Rolling stock, Engines, Buildings, everything that would make modeling more prototypical. Anyone else feel this way?

We already have a few Frisco correct depot's available from Blair Line:
    http://www.blairline.com/grandview/
    http://www.blairline.com/blrtown/

(Dale said in another thread that there was a third depot, but It isn't clearly labeled).
